India celebrates ‘Harela’, A Festival Of Nature and Greenery, Bigwigs celebrated the Festival at New Maharashtra Sadan

July 16, 2022 (New Delhi): Villagers across Uttarakhand celebrated Harela, a festival of greenery, nature conservation, peace, prosperity and as well as environmental conservation. The festival is being celebrated across the world on July 16. It means ‘day of green’ and is celebrated in the month of Shravan (the fifth month of the Hindu lunar calendar) to worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The seeds of five to seven types of crops are sown nine days ahead of the festival. This festival was being celebrated at New Maharashtra Sadan, New Delhi in honourable presence of Maharashtra Governor, Bhagat Singh Koshyari who was the chief guest of the ‘Vishwa Harela Mahotsav’. Also, UP Environment Minister, Dr. Arun Kumar Saxena was also present during the event. Harela is a brain child of RSS Provincial Campaigner, Harish Rautela who gave vote of thanks to the respected guests.

The event was graced by the presence of Upendra Pokhriyal (President Of UPJA), IPS Swapnil Mamgain, Madan Mohit Bharadwaj, Founder and CEO of SheWings. The event was started with Saraswati Puja (Goddess Of Wisdom) by lighting diyas and with Harela festival anthem which graced the occasion and added stars to the whole event. Then dance was performed by the artists on folk songs related to greenery, conservation of nature which was enjoyed by everyone.

During this event, so many environmentalists were felicitated for their incredible work towards environmental conservation, plantation and saving mother nature. One of the man from Uttarakhand, Chandan, was felicitated by Maharashtra Governor Koshyari for his consistent work for the conservation of nature. Also, The ‘Tree Man Of Haryana’, Mr. Devendra Sura was awarded by Maharashtra Governor for planting more than 2 lakh trees. He is still a constable in Chandigarh Police. He hails from Sonepat, Haryana. He told NLC Media that he always wanted to do something for mother nature and its conservation despite being a police constable. He also urged the eminent personalities to work for real cause towards environment sustainability not just for mere spotlights.

Guest Speakers shared their views on global warming, protection of nature and how they will conserve trees and forests. CM Of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated everyone during this occasion. Harela festival is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in Uttarakhand. Also, the Forest Department of Uttarakhand has set a target of planting more than 15 lakh saplings across the state. More than 2 lakh saplings will be planted in Dehradun city. Harela is all about greenery, connecting ourselves to the roots and conservative nature and mother earth.
