In the wake of sexual harassment cases, Emma Watson to donate about £1 Million to survivors

Hollywood is experiencing a paradigm shift. With predators of sexual harassment being exposed and several actresses taking a stand against the same, it’s a big transformation that the industry is going through.

They have applied the “No means no” rule in real life as well. To protest against the same, they all wear black to the award shows including the Grammys and BAFTA 2018 that took place recently. They have launched a Time’s Up movement in the wake of Harvey Weinstein allegations. The movement fights gender inequality as well as sexual harassment in the showbiz industry.

In the wake of the same and taking the movement a notch higher, Emma Watson recently donated £1 million (Rs. 9 crore approx.) to the victims of sexual harassment.

In the wake of the same and taking the movement a notch higher, Emma Watson recently donated £1 million (Rs. 9 crore approx.) to the victims of sexual harassment.

Here’s an excerpt from the letter:

“In autumn of last year, when stories came out in the press about sexual harassment, discrimination and abuse in the entertainment industry, 700,000 female farm workers wrote to us to say they stood with us in solidarity. Their letter explained that they knew what we were going through, that they stood shoulder to shoulder with us in our pain and in our belief that a better world was possible. This solidarity between women – activists and survivors – across all industries is what inspired Time’s Up and what continues to galvanize us. This movement is bigger than just a change in our industry alone. This movement is intersectional, with conversations across race, class, community, ability and work environment, to talk about the imbalance of power.”

Indeed, the Time’s Up! It’s time to take a stand.
