Finland becomes the first country to have the youngest female Prime Minister Sanna Marin.

The transport minister of Finland will be appointed as Prime Minister by her Social Democratic party after its leader, Antti Rinne, quit as PM. She will be sworn in this week.

After Mr. Rinne stepped down, Sanna Marin will take the office and will become the youngest Prime Minister in history, at the age of 34.

She will lead a center-left coalition with four other parties, all headed by women, three of whom are under 35.

On being asked about her age, Ms. Marin told reporters, “I have never thought about my age or gender. I think of reasons I got into politics and those things for which we have won the trust of the electorate.”

Sanna Marin will be the third female Prime Minister in the Nordic country. The other leaders in Sanna Marin leadership will be- The Left Alliance’s Li Andersson as education minister, Green Leader Maria Ohisalo as interior minister, and Anna-Maja Henriksson of the Swedish people’s Party as Justice Maker. This means that Finland’s parliament is now all led by women.

Sanna Marin told media, “We have a lot of work to do to rebuilt trust”.
