This nomination is a mission’ tweets Akhilesh Yadav as he heads to Karhal constituency for filing nomination
Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav is heading towards Karhal constituency of Mainpuri district to file his nomination papers for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. This is for the first time that the four time Member of Parliament (MP) is filing nominations for an assembly seat.
Samajwadi Party (SP) has declared Akhilesh Yadav as its candidate from the Karhal assembly seat, which was earlier represented by party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and which is a part of the Mainpuri parliamentary constituency. Karhal has for three decades been an SP fortress with a strong and loyal Yadav population.
Akhilesh Yadav called his nomination “a mission” while he was heading towards Karhal constituency. In a tweet in Hindi language, Yadav said, “This ‘nomination’ is a ‘mission’ because this election of UP will write the history of next century of the state and the century.Let’s take part in this movement of positive politics with progressive thinking… Defeat negative politics, remove it too. Jai Hind.”
Akhilesh Yadav also shared a picture of him leaving on the Samajwadi “Vijay Rath” bus for Mainpuri from his native place Saifai in Etawah. On positive politics, Akhilesh Yadav said, “Positive politics has been carried forward and I hope the people of Uttar Pradesh will remove those who do negative politics in this election. Therefore, I appeal to the people to give opportunity to the SP not only in Karhal but in every area. The party will take the state on the path of development, prosperity and progress.
While talking to reporters, The Samajwadi Party (SP) President said, “First of all, I want to thank the people of Mainpuri and the people of the organisation, who have given me a chance that today I am nominated from Karhal for contesting the elections. I am going to do it. It is also an interesting fact that the Karhal constituency is voting in favour of Samajwadi Party since 1993, except for 2002 assembly polls where Sobaran Singh, a sitting MLA, contested on a BJP ticket.
When it comes to political demography, Karhal constituency has a total of about 3.7 lakh electorate including 1.4 lakh (or 37 per cent) Yadavs, 34,000 Shakhyas (OBCs) and around 14,000 Muslims. Karhal constituency will go to polls on 20 February, 2022, in the third of the seven-phase elections in the state. The Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections are scheduled to be held from 10 February to 7 March 2022 in seven phases to elect all 403 members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The votes will be counted and the results will be declared on 10 March 2022.
