‘I Almost Lost My Life in Bengaluru – Is India Really Safe?'”

In a spine-chilling incident that unfolded in Bengaluru, startup founder Dhruv Bhatia came face to face with what he described as a deliberate attempt on his life. The founder of LocalPanda took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the terrifying ordeal that has left many questioning the safety of India’s tech hub.

Dhruv recounted how he was walking along the roadside near his apartment complex at Kudlu Gate in South Bengaluru when a water tanker came dangerously close to hitting him. The near-miss shook him to his core, and in a moment of fury and disbelief, he confronted the tanker driver. But what happened next was beyond comprehension. Instead of apologizing, the driver engaged in a heated exchange with Dhruv, hurling abuses back at him.

As Dhruv began to walk away, thinking the confrontation was over, the situation took a sinister turn. He noticed the driver steering the tanker off the road, directly toward him, in what appeared to be a second, deliberate attempt to run him over. In a split-second decision, Dhruv had to leap to the extreme left to avoid being crushed. The sheer size of the vehicle and the driver’s inability to maneuver it further saved his life. Had he not acted quickly, Dhruv feared this would have been just another tragic hit-and-run case, with him as the victim.

The terrifying encounter left Dhruv shaken, but he felt compelled to share his experience as a cautionary tale. In his post, which has since garnered over 1.4 million views, Dhruv expressed his deep concern over what he perceives as a growing disregard for the law and basic humanity among certain individuals. His harrowing story has sparked widespread discussion about road safety and the alarming rise in reckless behavior in the city.

What was supposed to be an ordinary day for Dhruv nearly turned into a nightmare, reminding us all of the fragile line between life and death on the chaotic streets of Bengaluru.
