By Devanshi Thakkar

The Pandemic made everyone realize the importance of staying healthy and building up our immunity. Everyone around us is just stressing about various ways to build immunity, and everyone has their different suggestions.

Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the need to practice a healthy lifestyle by consuming immunity-boosting food and by exercising and including yoga in our daily lives.

with the year coming to an end, let’s not forget about the top 6 healthy food items in the chart of 2020

  1. TURMERIC

Turmeric and its powerful ingredient, curcumin, have a range of health benefitsAntioxidants have the potential to prevent heart disease, eye conditions, and Alzheimer’s. Anti-inflammatory properties can help people with arthritis. Turmeric may even reduce the risk or spread of cancer.

The next time you’re under the weather, you may want to sip some turmeric tea. Curcumin might help you to fight off a variety of viruses, including herpes and the flu. (somebody did most of the research on this was done in a lab, not on people.) Keep in mind that turmeric is only about 3% curcumin, and your body doesn’t absorb curcumin well, so the occasional cup of tea won’t be a cure-all.

2. GARLIC

Although research is limited, some studies show individuals were less likely to get a cold after taking garlic supplements. This is thought to be because of garlic’s antimicrobial and antibiotic properties, which stop unwanted organisms’ growth. It also has significant antibacterial properties that help protect against certain infections. It is essential for strains resistant to antibiotics, including MRSA. Though it should not replace treatment by your physician, garlic can offer protective benefits as a supplement.

Because of its antibacterial properties, garlic can help reduce swelling and inflammation from acne. Although some people suggest using topically to treat skin conditions from acne to athlete’s foot, it is best to avoid placing garlic directly on the skin. It can cause a rash, a burning sensation, and, in rare cases, blistering.

3. KADHA

Kadha has been made at home in India for a long time and is often recommended as the ultimate home remedy for cough, cold, sore throat, and even fever. This decoction works best for protecting you against seasonal infections and keeping illness at bay. Ingredients like peppercorns, cloves, ginger, and tulsi leaves are added to Kadha at home, which fights existing cough and cold and increases immunity.

It not only strengthens your body’s defense mechanism by tackling microorganisms that cause infections, but it also improves your skin by balancing skin pigmentation. It also helps to purify your blood and acts as a detoxifier. The kadha acts as an effective laxative for treating constipation. It is useful for eye disorders too.

4. NUTS

Nuts are high in fat and calories; however, this is part of what makes nuts healthy! The fats in nuts are primarily monounsaturated fats, which are considered “good fats.” These fats are naturally occurring and do not pose the same health risks as saturated fats and other fats found in processed foods. The monounsaturated fats in nuts can lower your cholesterol, regulate your blood sugar, and provide other valuable nutrients.

The high-calorie count of some nuts is balanced out by the protein punch these nuts provide in each serving. Eating a portion of nuts — one ounce or a small handful — at least four times a week can boost your health in a variety of ways.

If you avoid dairy, calcium-rich almonds are an excellent choice to ensure you’re getting enough of this bone-building mineral. Almonds are also high in vitamin E, a nutrient that improves the condition and appearance of your skin. For some extra heart help, swap flaked almonds for the whole nut – with the skin intact – because the almond’s skin is full of heart-protecting compounds called flavonoids.

5. VITAMIN C

VITAMIN C is one of the safest and most effective nutrients, experts say. Though it may not be the cure for the common cold, vitamin C benefits may include protection against immune system deficiencies, cardiovascular disease, prenatal health problems, eye disease, and even skin wrinkling.

“The more we study vitamin C, the better our understanding of how diverse it is in protecting our health, from cardiovascular, cancer, stroke, eye health [and] immunity to living longer.”

6. GINGER

Because ginger and its metabolites appear to accumulate in the gastrointestinal tract, the consistent observations of ginger exerting many of its effects in this area are not surprising. Ginger has been purported to exert a variety of powerful therapeutic and preventive effects and has been used for thousands of years to treat hundreds of ailments from colds to cancer.

Chewing some ginger with lemon and black salt may help recover lost appetite. If you’ve been suffering from the same, you may want to try this home remedy to heal your desire.

Ladies, take note! Intake of ginger powder may help significantly to reduce menstrual cramps, also called dysmenorrhea. Ginger is one of the traditional remedies used to alleviate menstrual pain. You can also take a hot cup of ginger tea to bring relief from the pain.
