‘Give Respect, Take Respect’: Naveen ul Haq hits back at Shahid Afridi’s ‘Don’t Indulge in Abusive Talks’

The on-field spat between Afghanistan pacer Naveen -ul – Haq and Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Amir and Shahid Afridi during the Lanka Premier League (LPL) game between Kandy Tuskers and Galle Gladiators has now reached social media and still isn’t ending.

The sixth match of the Lanka Premier League witnessed a heated argument as Young Afghanistan Pacer Naveen was seen hurling cuss words at Gladiators bowler Mohammad Amir during the face-off. Though a couple of senior Tuskers players including Munaf Patel tried to pull out the young Afghan bowler from the scuffle but the latter went on.

After the game ended, Afridi and Naveen came across each other when the players from both sides were shaking hands. The Pakistan veteran was seen smiling until he asked Naveen what was he saying to Amir. In reply, the young Afghan pacer notably replied disrespectfully after which turned Afridi furious.

Afridi then commented on Twitter about the incident saying that “My advise to the young player was simple, play the game and don’t indulge in abusive talk. I have friends in the Afghanistan team and we have very cordial relations. Respect for teammates and opponents is the basic spirit of the game.”

Now, the pace bowler has taken the fight one step ahead by hitting out at Afridi’s ‘Don’t indulge in abusive talk’ remark on the tweet saying that he is always ready to take advice from seniors like him, but he demanded respect in return.

Playing for Kandy Tuskers in the LPL, Naveen replied saying, “Always ready to take advice and give respect, Cricket is a gentleman’s game but if someone says you all are under our feet and will stay their then he is not only talking about me but also talking abt my ppl.”
