Facebook and WhatsApp loose it all as Modi bans currency notes! Timelines and inbox get piled up

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an unprecedented move to weed out black money and stop money laundering, internet could not handle the news and reacted in the best way that it does- by becoming an endless source of hilarious comments and memes from the best and the worst on Facebook, Twitter and other social media.

Pictures of the people using Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 currency notes, which have been declared out of circulation from midnight today, as trash, have been going viral on messenger Whatsapp, with people sharing them on multiple groups, as a comment on the panicked mode which Indians across the country have been put into.

Facebook timelines were flooded with jokes of all sorts. One of the dominant themes of these jokes seemed to be in the favour of Prime Minister Modi and against those who have been engaging in corruption and who have been known to have black money stashed away with them.

No wonder then that Nationalist Congress Party chief, Sharad Pawar, who has been accused of financial irregularities during his tenure as a Minister in the Maharashtra government, was trending suddenly on Twitter. There were multiple jokes and memes commenting on the state of mind that Modi’s move might have put into. The joke indicated that Pawar’s undeclared wealth is an open secret.

Since notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 are as good as pieces of paper now, images of notes being used to eat food from and as trash have been widely circulated on Whatsapp.

Twitter was also filled with witty one liners and jokes and memes, which lauded the move, but at the same time exposed a whole lot of hilarity hidden in the situation, as always.
