Prejudice or discrimination based on one’s sex or gender is known as sexism. Sexism can harm everybody, but women and girls are the ones who are most affected. It’s been related to stereotypes and gender roles, and it could involve the assumption that one sex or gender is fundamentally superior to the other.

Vidya Balan, who has always been outspoken on such matters, brings up a crucial aspect of sexism which needs to be adressed.

Vidya Balan, in a recent interview, correctly points out that sexism does not only come from males, but also from women, and that it leads to people doubting and criticizing themselves. She sets an example for others by admitting that she has underestimated herself in the past due to her gender.

She said “Sexism is not only about how men treat women; it is as much a mindset that women have, as a result of their deep-rooted conditioning,”

She also stated “Sexism is not only about how men treat women; it is as much a mindset that women have, as a result of their deep-rooted conditioning. I have faced sexism from men, women and myself. Sometimes I have underestimated myself because I am a woman. But over time, I’ve realised that there is a way out. I don’t have to hold myself back because of my gender.”

Recently she was seen in Sherni. She has received positive feedback for the film, and the actress says she is pleased when more people see her films because she makes them for people to enjoy.
