‘Karwa Chauth’ is perhaps one of the very ‘romantic’ festivals of India. This is the day when the pious wife fasts for an entire day for the safety and longevity of her husband. The festivities also are quite dramatic. Once the moon is visible, the fasting woman views its reflection in a vessel filled with water, through a sieve and offers water to the moon to secure its blessings. She then turns to her husband and views his face indirectly in the same manner.
Well, so it is only natural that Bollywood takes advantage of this ‘romantic’ factor when most of its films revolve around romance. The late film maker Yash Chopra who was a hard core Punjabi popularized many festivals in his movies, the most popular one being ‘Karwa Chauth’. Well, the trend continued through the years and here are such ‘Karwa Chauth’ moments from our films that are forever etched in our hearts.
