Singer Taylor Swift has found her first post-Cats feature film project. The hit-making musical artist is the latest addition to join the A-lister pack of filmmaker David O Russell’s next project For New Regency.
The film remains untitled and somewhat Mysterious but Swift is joining a line-up that includes Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Rami Malek, Zoe Saldana, Anya Taylor- Joy and Chris Rock.
Russell’s film will mark Swift’s return to the big screen Since Cats, the 2019 musical adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s long-running stage show which was slammed by the critics.
Taylor Swift is an 11 time Grammy winner who has sold more than 200 million records worldwide. Taylor had made her movie debut in Garry Marshal’s ensemble rom-com Valentine’s Day before voicing Zac Efron’s love interest in the Lorax and appearing alongside Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges in The Giver.
Like the plot of the film, Swift’s role is being kept under wraps. Mathew Budman of American Hustle fame will produce the movie.
One thing we do know is that the movie is said to be based on an original idea that comes from Russell himself.
The upcoming feature film also stars Robert De Niro, Mike Myers, Timothy Olyphant, Michael Shannon, and Alessandro Nivola in the lead roles.
The film will be Russell’s first feature since 2015’s Joy starring Jennifer Lawrence. Production on the feature is complete and Disney’s 20th-century Studio is slated to release the movie on a yet-to-be-determined date.
