Tahira Kashyap, Ekta Kapoor, Karishma Dev Dube’s short film ‘Bittu’ enters the Top 10 list in Oscars 2021.

Filmmaker Karishma Dev Dube’s directorial film Bittu has made it to the Live Action Short Film Shortlist for the 93rd Academy Award.

Earlier in January this year, filmmakers Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga, Tahira Kashyap Khurrana, and Ruchika Kapoor launched their cinema collective named ‘Indian Women Rising’.

Soon after they announced their first project, a short film titled Bittu. Now Bittu has managed to attract the critic’s attention with its stellar screenplay and performance. Bittu officially bags the Oscars 2021 race.

The Academy has finally released the short films that will fight in Oscars this year, and gladly Bittu is one of them. The film runs the race in the Short Film Category.

Bittu is based on a true story and reveals the tale of a heartwarming relationship between two school-going friends. Besides winning the Student Academy Award the short film has also made its presence felt in over eighteen film festivals across the world.

Expressing their excitement over the same, Guneet Monga and Tahira Kashyap pens Down a heartfelt note.

From casting real children amongst the valleys of The Himalayas to shooting against the backdrop of the mountains, the film offers a visually aesthetic as well as an authentic experience to its viewers.

Meanwhile, India’s official Oscar Entry Jallilkattu failed to make it to the International Film Festival.
