Sujata Kumar’s Life Was More About Tears Than Love: TEDx Talk Makes It Feel You

Television and film actress Sujata Kumar passed away a couple of days back after a long battle with cancer. Her sister Suchitra Krishnamoorthi took to Twitter and broke the news of her demise. She wrote, “Our beloved Sujata Kumar has passed away and moved on to a better place leaving us with an unimaginable void. She left us an hour ago at 11.26 pm on the 19th of August 2018. Life can never be the same again …(sic)”.

It is really heartbreaking for the B-town which has to confront a great loss because Sujata was a part of several Bollywood films be it Guzarish, Raanjhana and her most notable of the lot English Vinglish. In English Vinglish, she played Sridevi’s sister. And at the time of the film’s release she had stated, “Sridevi is a great human being. She is a sweetheart. I am so proud that I played her elder sister. We are not blood sisters but there was a great rapport between us. I found her very down to earth and we bonded well.”

As a teenager in getting divorced from her husband to eventually die of cancer, Sujata Kumar’s (53) life was more about tears than love. Not that she ever gave up fighting. Sujata, in fact, fought till her last breath, be it with cancer or with her inner self that kept trying to tell her that she’s living a worthless life. Titled as  ‘How to filter emotional pollutants from your life’, Sujata has gone up to recall to all her sufferings as a child and how fate shocked her with cancer, despite knowing that she’s not had an easy life and that she needs to be freed from misery.

And turns out Sridevi, who passed away earlier this year, too was fond of her on-screen sister as revealed by Boney Kapoor. After the untimely demise of Sujata Kumar, Boney Kapoor told Spotboye what Sridevi had told him about her. He said I had met Sujata once or twice. He continued, Well, Sri always told me that Sujata was a very dignified lady, full of warmth. Check out Sridevi and Sujata Kumar in a song Manhattan from English Vinglish.
