Karan Vahi Took A Stand Against The Show Normalizing Child Marriage
We are well acquainted with the fact that we no longer have ‘quality’ TV shows like we had, back in the day. ‘Malgudi Days’, B.R. Chopra’s ‘Mahabharata’, ‘Dekh Bhai Dekh’ and many more. They took the time, well-written scripts and amazing actors to introduce us to valuable lessons of life, our culture or sometimes made us laugh.
But these days, we have shows that talk about breaking stereotypes but end up breaking our calm. I would still sit myself through a ‘Naagin’ or ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ episode ignoring the hilarious VFX, but this new TV serial is beyond any forgiveness.
Yes, I am talking about the serial that is called ‘Pehredaar Piya Ki‘, which glorifies the indigestible love story between an adult woman and a 10-year-old kid. Its first episode aired yesterday and man, what a cringe fest!
It ended up glorifying stalking, normalising LOVE between a woman and a child and lots of things that would make you storm off the room.
And we are not the only people who feel this way. Renowned TV actor/anchor, Karan Wahi spoke his mind and slammed the makers and producers of the serial. In a Facebook Post, he wrote,
