Here’s how Babita’s life became full of sacrifices after becoming daughter-in-law of Kapoor family.

Today is the birthday of famous actress Babita Kapoor, who once made a mark in Bollywood. And today she is celebrating her 74th birthday. She was born in 1948 in Karachi, Pakistan. Babita Kapoor is the mother of two famous actresses of Hindi cinema, Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. She was married in the year 1971 with Randhir Kapoor, the elder son of Raj Kapoor. Even in his short film career, he had made a big place in Bollywood. Babita, who made her Bollywood debut with the film ‘Raj’ opposite Rajesh Khanna, had made a lot of headlines from her first film. However, his film ‘Dus Lakh’ was released earlier in theatres, due to which it is considered his first debut film.


When Randhir Kapoor and Babita fell in love with each other both of them decided to marry and Randhir Kapoor went against the rules of the Kapoor family and brought an actress as the daughter-in-law of the house for the first time. The condition of this marriage was that Babita would say goodbye to the acting world. Babita also gave this sacrifice for her love. Their relationship progressed and Babita gave birth to a daughter, who was named Karishma Kapoor. Later, when Kareena was born, she took a decision that shook the Kapoor family.


Mother Babita wanted to launch her daughter Karishma Kapoor in films. What is the Kapoor family, Randhir himself was not agreeable to this. Eventually Babita left Randhir with her two daughters. In the year 1991, Karisma stepped into Bollywood with the film Prem Qaidi and was successful. In the year 2000, Kareena started her career in Bollywood with the film Refugee and she went on to climb the stairs of success. Today the names of Karisma and Kareena are counted among the most successful actresses of Bollywood. Randhir and Babita lived apart for years, but both did not divorce, even today both share happiness and sorrow together.
