Cordelia drugs case: NCB gives clean chit to Aryan Khan citing lack of evidence.
27 May 2022,(New Delhi): Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan has got a clean chit in the Mumbai drugs case. Aryan Khan’s name is not there in the police chargesheet. On Friday, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) filed a 6000-page chargesheet in the drugs case, in which 14 accused were named. Drugs were found last year on a cruise ship in Mumbai.
Senior agency officer Sanjay Kumar Singh said that the NCB did not find any solid evidence against Aryan Khan and the other five people. He said, except Aryan and Mohak, intoxicants were found with all the accused. A case is being registered against 14 people under various sections of the NDPS Act. Complaints are not being registered against the remaining six people due to lack of evidence.
On 3 October 2021, Aryan Khan was arrested by the NCB in the case of the drugs party going on the cruise. Aryan got bail from the Bombay High Court after being in jail for about 28 days.
A few months back, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) shared some of the findings of its investigation, which were contrary to the allegations of NCB Mumbai. It was found in the SIT investigation that Aryan Khan never had drugs, so there was no need to take his phone and check his chats. The SIT had said that the chat did not reveal that Aryan Khan was part of any international syndicate. Moreover, the raids were not video-recorded, as mandated by the NCB manual.
The investigation team of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had said that many irregularities were committed in the raids conducted during the drugs party. According to the NCB manual, video recording is mandatory during raids, but it was not done during raids in drugs case. The logic of the SIT investigation raised questions on the conduct of the raids and the working style of Sameer Wankhede, former director of the agency’s Mumbai regional unit. Sameer Wankhede has been sent back to his parent cadre and has been questioned several times by both the SIT and the agency’s vigilance team to probe the matter.
