Best Reply Of Vidya Balan to Body Shamers

Star actress Vidya Balan for her upcoming film Tumhari Sulu, scolded a reporter who asked her if she ‘plans to lose weight’ in order to be cast in films that aren’t ‘women-centric.’ Baffled? Vidya was too. Here’s how the event unfolded on the red carpet of a magazine award show. A reporter asked Vidya, “Will you always pick women-centric films or have you thought about losing weight?”

The Kahaani star was visibly shocked and asked how the two things are related, to which the reported added: “For glamorous roles.” Vidya Balan laughed and said: “I’m very happy with the kind of work I’m doing but it would be really great if you people could change your mindset.” Ironically, Vidya was asked this question at an event where she was among the 17 “Women of Worth” awardees.

The film also stars Neha Dhupia, Manav Kaul and RJ Malishka in pivotal roles. Vidya has set new standards with films like Paa, Ishqiya, The Dirty Picture, and Kahaani to her credit and we’re sure Tumhari Sulu will be another feather in her cap.

Known for her amazingly bold self, Vidya gave it back to a reporter who fat-shamed her at a recent event. Ahe reporter asked Vidya if she wanted to continue doing women-centric films or wanted to lose weight to fit into glamorous roles. Vidya responded to this with a cool head and mentioned that there’s no connection between the two and that she is happy with the work she is doing. She also said that people’s mindsets need to change about weight-shaming.

We feel it’s incredible on Vidya’s part on how wonderfully she handled the situation and letting all women know out there that they’re beautiful in their own way. More power to you, Vidya!
