‘Angry Old Man’ Amitabh Bachchan presents #Sarkar3!

Amitabh Bachchan and Ram Gopal Varma came together for the first time in 2005 for a film called Sarkar, which was well received then and later spawned a sequel in Sarkar Raj (2008). Now 9 years after the second film, Amitabh Bachchan revisits the world of Sarkar with Sarkar 3 and this time he has become badass than ever. The trailer starts off with ‘A wounded lion is the most dangerous’ – and this forms the crux of Sarkar 3. For the uninitiated, first part of the film saw the killing of Sarkar’s elder son, played by Kay Kay Menon, while Sarkar 2, which was titled Sarkar Raj, saw the killing of his second son, played by Abhishek Bachchan. It was then, at the end of the second film, when he asks for his grandson, who is played by Amit Sadh in the third part. The trailer is grander than ever and also features a plethora of brilliant actors like Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpai, Ronit Roy, Rohini Hattangadi, Amit Sadh and Yami Gautam.

One look at the trailer and you’ll realise that it’s a Ram Gopal Varma film, and even though he has gone off track in recent years, this may well turn out to be his comeback. Also, the background score in the trailer reminds me of Ram Gopal Varma’s own underrated gem, Rakhta Charitra.

If you are a fan of this franchise, the final scene of the trailer is sure to give you goosebumps. You know sh*t just got real when Amitabh Bachchan in his baritone says, “Paintees saal ho gaye khud apne haath se kisi ko maare hue, par ab inhi haatho se maarunga.” (It’s been 35 years I killed anyone with my own hands, but now I am going to) Also, the trailer shows the death of his close one hence the outburst. Who would it be? That’s the question.

And how can one forget the famous, “Mujhe jo sahi lagta hai main karta hoon, woh chahein bhagwan ke khilaaf ho, samaj ke khilaaf ho, police, kaanoon ya fir pure system ke khilaaf kyun na ho,” and this ends the trailer at an all time high. Here’s waiting for April 14, 2017 as it marks the return of the angry old man.
