Actor and Former Bigg Boss Contestant Ajaz Khan have been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau after eight hours of interrogation in connection with a drug case.

The actor was detained by the NCB from the Mumbai airport on Tuesday, an official said, after his name cropped up during interrogation of drug peddler Shadab Batata.

The NCB suspects that Ajaz was part of the drug supply syndicate run by Farukh Batata and his son Shadab Batata.

Early on Wednesday morning, the actor was arrested by NCB. The NCB probe team also conducted searches at Andheri and Lokhandwala areas along with Ajaz Khan in connection with the drug case.

The NCB agency said that they had found alprazolam tablets from his home during searches in the city’s Andheri and Lokhandwala areas.

Meanwhile, Farukh Batata was also questioned by NCB for eight hours in the same case and was later allowed to leave. His son Shadab was arrested last week by the NCB.

Shadab was arrested last Thursday, and over 2 kilograms of the banned mephedrone drug were recovered from him

The NCB in recent months has tightened the screws on the alleged Bollywood narcotics syndicate with searches, interrogation, and arrest being made in this connection. The investigation is linked to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death last year.

This is not the first time that Ajaz Khan’s name has surfaced in a drug case. In 2018, the former Bigg Boss Contestant was arrested by the Anti- Narcotics Cell of the Mumbai Police from a hotel in the city after they found eight ecstasy tablets in his possession.

In April 2020, Ajaz was arrested for allegedly uploading an objectionable Facebook post. He had been summoned to Khar Police Station with the comment made during a Facebook live session.
