Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has courted yet another controversy as he lost his cool twice at the Umpire in a Dhaka Premier League Game on Friday.
The left-arm spinning all-rounder Shakib in a couple of moments of madness lost himself completely twice in space of two overs. Playing for Mohammedan Sporting Club against Abahani Limited, Shakib first kicked the stumps in anger after the umpire denied his LBW appeal against Mushfiqur Rahim.
Then one over later, when the umpire called off the play due to rain, Shakib came charging to the pitch and started banging the stumps into the ground and was involved in a heated discussion with the umpire again.
Notably, Shakib was pissed off with the umpire as the game was called off due to rain when 5.5 overs were bowled as the DLS method would have come into play after 6 overs and he lashed out at the umpire for not allowing one more delivery to be bowled.
Shakib’s behaviour was severely criticized by fans, experts, and the ones watching the game. Netizens bombarded social media by lashing out their anger towards the cricketer.

Later, as Shakib Al Hasan’s shocking video began going viral on social media, the veteran apologized for the same.
The 34-year-old issued a statement, regretting his actions, and understands that an experienced cricketer like him should not have resorted to such deeds. He also promised not to repeat such things in the future.
“Dear fans and followers, I am extremely sorry for losing my temper and ruining the match for everyone and especially those who are watching from home. An experienced player like me should not have reacted that way but sometimes against all odds it happens, unfortunately.
“I apologize to the teams, management, tournament officials, and organizing committee for this human error. Hopefully, I won’t be repeating this again in the future. Thanks and love you all,” Shakib said in the statement.
Later, Shakib Al Hasan’s wife Umme Al Hasan, underlines that it feels good to see people having the guts to stand against all the odds. She even criticized the media for not telling the public about the alleged wrong decisions of the umpire bad only highlighting Shakib’s anger.
Umme believes that it is all a plot against him going on for a long time to portray her husband as a villain under all circumstances.
“I’m enjoying this incident as much as the media is, finally some news on tv! It is great to see the support of the people who can see the clear picture of today’s incident at least someone has the guts to stand against all odds. However, it is sad to see the main issue getting buried by the media highlighting only the anger that he showed. The main issue is the ongoing eye-catching decisions of the umpires! The headlines are really saddening. To me, it is a plot against him that has been going on for a while to portray him as the villain in all circumstances! If you are a cricket lover beware of your actions!” she said in a statement.
Moreover, this is not the first time Shakib has made headlines while playing in domestic cricket. Shakib was banned in 2018 by the International Cricket Council’s Anti Corruption Unit after he failed to report multiple approaches from an alleged bookie during the Sunrisers Hyderabad sting in IPL 2018.
Bangladesh star all-rounder came back to the sport on October 29 after serving out his one-year ban.
