CP took DCP’s ‘Class’ says ‘No Grammatical Errors’ on Twitter and Facebook

Delhi police have always been in the limelight but this time, it is in the news because of its twitter. Some senior police officers have been instructed to use twitter handles more judiciously, avoiding posting opinions and retweeting articles not related to policing.

They have also been asked to pay more attention to grammar. The matter was discussed at a recent meeting and city police chief, Alok Kumar Verma, who instructed the officers in this regard, also made a point about grammar and factually correct posts on officials Twitter handles.

Now you must be wondering how it all started then lets us tell you how. The matter was first discussed after a senior official posted a clarification on Twitter to stop rumours trying to give a communal angle to a murder case to in the city earlier this year.

Though the officer was lauded by her seniors for doing so, the subject of tweeting by senior police officers through official Twitter handles was taken up by the top brass.

The subject is believed to have come up with again earlier this month and the top cop gave clear instructions.

All the police officials were active on Twitter on the instructions of former Delhi Police commissioner, B S BASSI, who himself was active on social media. The only objective was to enhance the communication between Public and senior police officers and to endorse police schemes.
