F&B major Mother Dairy plans to consolidate its market share with new launches as well as more stores. The Company is optimistic of strong growth this fiscal in a strong demand environment. Manish Bandish, Managing Director, Mother Dairy Fruit and Vegetable said, “We have seen sequential as well as annual growth this year as the demand has grown both ways.
Most of our businesses including Milk, Value Added Milk Products, Dhara Edible Oils and Safal’s frozen portfolio have collectively contributed to this growth, helping us to grow by 20 per cent in October 2021 as compared to the same month last year, he added.
Furthermore, Bandish credits the e-commerce platform with giving an additional boost to the growth momentum. The categories we operate in saw limited impact during the first wave last year and we have grown as one of the leading suppliers of essential commodities. Given the severity of the second wave this year, the impact was also on the ice cream business in certain categories.
However, the recovery has been remarkable despite the decline in buying in the last year. In fact, he cited record sales of ice cream when the lockdown was eased in July. So far, this year saw steady supply, as various channels such as e-commerce continued to hog the big time.
Further, Bandish referred to the festive season 2021 as a key growth driver, as several categories such as butter, paneer, ghee, sweets, milk and edible oils have outperformed on a year-on-year basis. Even the production level for various categories has reached the pre-covid level. Except a few categories are crossing the border. Overall, we are looking forward to a good year.
About the company’s plan to set up around 700 stores in Delhi by FY2023, he said these would be in the form of kiosks and franchise shops. Presently, Mother Dairy is one of the largest retailers of milk and milk products in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. With the planned stores, we will cover the length and breadth of this region with a collective number of over 2,500 exclusive Mother Dairy consumer stores.
On the new launch, Bandish pointed out that the consumption trend, which started changing last year, remains the same. With a focus on convenience and nutritional offerings, we will continue to launch new products going forward. Last year, the company introduced a health drink called Haldi Milk. It further strengthened its portfolio of nutritional offerings with the launch of Probiotic Yoghurts.
