Bihar U-16 boys record win by an innings and 870 runs
Yes, you read it right! Bihar U-16 boys registered a sensational inning and 870-run win over Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Merchant Trophy at the Energy Stadium, Rajbansinagar, Patna on Sunday.
Having bowled out AP for a meagre 83 on the first day after electing to field, Bihar declared their first-innings at a massive 1007/7 on the third day. Wicket-keeper batsman Binny struck a swashbuckling 380-ball 358 studded with 36 fours. No 4 Prakash (220, 222 balls, 23x4s, 1x4s) and opener Arnav Kishor (161, 129 balls, 28x4s, 2x6s) too feasted on the Arunachal Pradesh bowlers.
The third-wicket partnership of 401 runs between Prakash and Binny hurt AP bowlers as the duo went guns blazing during their 67.2-overs stand. The innings saw three hundred-run partnerships excluding the 401-run stand. Openers Rajesh (54) and av Kishor (161) added 182 runs, while the fourth wicket added 109 and the fifth-wicket pair adding 131 runs.
Two AP bowlers A Sharma (4/276 in 41.1 overs) and Milon Dey (1/296 in 41 overs) conceded in excess 200 runs. Skipper Sharma used as many nine bowlers but only three ended up being in the wickets column.
Bihar’s 159.1-over batting stay witnessed three hundred, two half-centuries and the AP bowlers conceding 48 extras.
Things got even worse for AP with the bat, the second time around. Bihar bowler Reshu Raj claimed six wickets for 23 runs to bundle AP out for just 54.
As many as six AP batsmen didn’t trouble the scorers while No 3 batsman Latyir Damin top-scored with 31 off 91 balls.
New ball bowler Suraj supported Reshu’s efforts claiming three wickets for 11 runs. AP lasted 31 overs in the first innings and they faced 33.5 overs in the second innings.
