IPL 2018: ‘Chennai Super Kings’ Lungi Ngidi to Fly Back Home

Chennai Super Kings’ South African bowler Lungi Ngidi will head home from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after the sudden death of his father.

Ngidi was all set to play for Chennai Super Kings after being brought by them on the back of his promising performance during the bilateral Test series against India, where he took six wickets in his debut match, showing glimpses of his talent. The promising speedster was waiting on the wings to get his chances for the first time in the Indian Premier League after sitting out from first two matches. However, for the time being, there is a concern over his availability for upcoming matches as Cricket South Africa on Saturday (April 14) announced that the pacer is returning home following the death of his father.

“Cricket South Africa is shocked and deeply saddened by the passing away of Mr Ngidi. We would like to extend our most sincere condolences to Lungi and his family. May the Lord be with him and comfort the rest of the Ngidi Family during this difficult time,” said CSA President, Chris Nenzani in the statement.

“I am taking this moment to pass my condolences to the Ngidi family. It has to be even more difficult to lose a father figure at such a young age for Lungi. May the soul of Mr Ngidi rest peacefully,” added CSA Acting Chief Executive, Thabang Moroe.

So far, the rookie pacer has played three Tests, four ODIs and three T20Is for South Africa and claimed to be an able replacement to fill the void of Morne Morkel, who retired after the conclusion of the Australia series.

Rohit Sharma Trolled By Fans After Run-Out Case with Virat Kohli & Ajinkya Rahane

Rohit Sharma on Tuesday was trolled by fans on social media after the right-hander was involved in two run outs – Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane — during the crucial fifth One-day International at St George’s Park Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday. Rohit, who scored his 17th century to help India post 274 for seven, was first involved in a massive mix-up that ended captain Kohli’s stay and then soon after was slow to react to Rahane’s call that left the latter stranded and without any chance of making it back to his crease.

Rahane pushed the ball towards mid-on and called for a single. Rohit shouted ‘no’ when Rahane crossed the half-way mark. By the time Rahane turned back, Morne Morkel’s throw to wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen had already done the job.

Rohit, however, somewhat made up for run-outs as he slammed his 17th century in ODIs.

The India opener, who has had a rather lean patch in the series in South Africa, was under a lot of pressure having failed to deliver in either the Tests or the ODI series so far.

Rohit had the highest score of 20 in the ODI series prior to this, managing just 40 runs in four matches as the outcry about his form grew louder.

Rohit, who brought up his 17th century off 107 balls, scored a brilliant 115 off 126 balls. His innings was studded with 11 boundaries and four sixes.

Virat Kohli uploads Pic With Hardik Pandya, Says Excited About Second Test

Kohli failed to deliver in the Indian batting challenge while chasing a mediocre target in the Newlands Test.

Chasing a 208-run target, Kohli came out to bat after India had suffered a double setback with both openers — Murali Vijay (13) and Shikhar Dhawan (16) – dismissed early.

The Indian skipper, who scored just 5 runs in the first innings, could manage 28 runs before being dismissed by Vernon Philander.

Philander led a truncated South African bowling attack and he, along with Morne Morkel and Kagiso Rabada, helped the hosts bowl out India for 135 in the second innings to give the hosts a 72-run win and a 1-0 lead in the series.

On the other hand, Pandya was showered with praise on social media from not just fans but former cricketers as well for his brilliant 93-run knock in India’s first innings.

Apart from Pandya’ brilliant counter-attacking knock, other Indian batsmen failed to get their act together with the bat as none of the other batters looked anywhere close to coming to terms with the seam movement of the Newlands track.

So guys what do you think, will India gear up in the 2nd Test match and Level-up the 3 Test match series by 1-1 each. Do share your views on the same in the below comment box.

Wriddhiman Saha Creates ‘India Record’ to effect 10 dismissals in a Test

When Saha took a simple catch off the bat of Morne Morkel, what was the ninth wicket of the South African innings on day four of the first Test between South Africa and India, Wriddhiman Saha took four catches to complete ten dismissals in the match. He overtook Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s previous record of nine dismissals. Dhoni had achieved that in the Melbourne Test in Australia during the 2014-15 series.

Saha, who took five catches during South Africa’s first innings, added five more in the second innings. Four of these catches came in the first session of day four. Indian bowlers produced an impressive pace bowling to dismiss South Africa cheaply in their second innings.

Like the first innings, Saha took five catches in South Africa’s second innings to reach the record for Indian cricket. Thanks to the Indian fast bowlers’ top-notch bowling in the morning session of Day 4, India now need 208 runs to win the game, for which they will definitely back themselves.

Saha now will be keeping his fingers crossed as nothing sweetens a personal achievement than a win on a sporting field. In fact, he might even be required to show some of his batting skills to lead India to what, if achieved, would be a historic win.
