A.R Rahman badly trolled on Doughter Khatija Niqaab
Music composer king A.R Rahman came under social media criticism
after his daughter Khatija took to the stage to talk about her father during
the 10-year-anniversary of his Oscar Win for Slumdog Millionaire.
A day later, AR Rahman posted a picture on his Twitter,
hitting back at trolls with a caption, “The precious ladies of my family
Khatija ,Raheema and Sairaa with NitaAmbaniji He captioned the photo #freedomtochoose”.While
Raheema is seen wearing a pink embellished salwar, Khatija wore a burqa to the
event. The powerful photo is a loud statement on what Rahman terms ‘freedom to
choose’. Khatija, his daughter, is seen wearing a niqab, which covers her face
and hair. Rahman’s other daughter Raheema is seen without a veil or headgear,
with open hair. His wife, Sairaa, is seen in a hijab, covering just her hair,
at the event.
However, several users slammed the legendary composer over his daughter wearing covering her face. They targeted the singer-composer for his daughter’s conservative dressing style. Some Twitter users posted nasty comments here too.
Rahman’s daughter shared a powerful note on her Facebook
account justifying her choice of clothes and how it has nothing to do with her
family. “I’m a sane mature adult who knows to make my choices in life. Any
human being has a choice to wear or do what he/she wants and that’s what I’ve
been doing,” she said in a Facebook post. “I would like to say that the attire
I wear or the choices I make in my life does not have anything to do with my
parents. The veil has been my personal choice with complete acceptance and
honour,” she remarked.

The gruesome murder of noted journalist Gauri Lankesh had sent a wave of resentment among the Indians and to the people proactively supporting the dissent in the country. The Journalist was gunned down when she was returning from her office and walking towards her home. The murder had brought people together, protests are being carried out and the demand for free and fair trial is put on.
Noted journalists, common people and renowned celebrities from the film industry have expressed their grief and shock over the murder. Joining the same ranks, A.R Rahman had expressed his views on the murder. While condemning the murder, AR Rahman asserts that if such incidents take place in the country then it was not his India. While speaking at the premiere of his upcoming film One Heart: The AR Rahman Concert Film in Mumbai, Rahman affirmed that he was extremely sad to hear the news of her passing and added that he wanted India to be “progressive” and “kind”.
“I am so so sad about that. I hope these things don’t happen in India. If these things happen in India, then it is not my India. I want my India to be progressive and kind,” Rahman was quoted as saying.
While talking about the movie, Rahman stated “it was probably the first concert movie in India. We wanted to give an alternate kind of movie to the audience because people have seen action, romance comedy and everything but a musical movie which have great quality and sound is something to look out for.”
