Is alliance between Mayawati and Akhilesh going to destroy BJP?

The rival political parties in Uttar Pradesh of Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav join hands as they both turned partners-in-polls today. They announced their mega alliance in a press conference which was conducted today.

“The press conference will give sleepless night to both Narendra Modi and Amit Shah”, said both Mayawati and Akhilesh in front of the camera.

The idea of this alliance came to both of them last year when they found that by taking up for the polls together, they would be unbeaten. After not getting votes in three seats including Yogi Adityanath’s Phulpur seat, they took their thought of alliance to next level i.e., The 2019 national polls.

Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) will fight for 38 seats while Samajwadi Party (SP) will fight for 38 seats. While the two seats Amethi and Rae Bareli are left for Congress to conduct elections.

“I welcome the alliance of the SP and the BSP for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections “, Mamata Banerjee tweeted.

Both SP and BSP had skipped oath-taking ceremonies of Congress’ chief ministers. It triggered speculations that everything is not well in the Opposition camp that is claiming to be confident to take on Narendra Modi in 2019.

An alliance between Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party and Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections is expected to be announced next month. The formal announcement will be made on Mayawati’s birthday on January 15, 2019. Rashtriya Lok Dal of Ajit Singh will also be a part of this alliance. Akhilesh and Mayawati have decided to keep room for OP Rajbhar as he can join the grand alliance. Rajbhar is presently a minister in the Yogi Adityanath government.

Both parties had virtually contested Uttar Pradesh by-polls together along with Ajit Singh’s Rashtriya Lok Dal. The BSP had extended its support to Akhilesh Yadav’s party candidates. The by-polls were held in May this year. SP had wrested both Phulpur and Gorakhpur from the BJP.
