The year 2019 is a World Cup year and this means that almost every team will be putting out newly designed kits for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 in England and Wales, which will commence from May 30.
This also meant that the Indian team will be getting a newly designed jersey that they will flaunt in their World Cup campaign. The newly designed kit is made by Nike and BCCI launched the same in an event in Hyderabad on the eve of the first ODI match between India and Australia.
The new kit is quite simple just with some more shades of blue along with some shades of saffron. And ‘India’ is written much bolder than title sponsor Oppo’s logo in front. The inside of the collar is also orange. The inside of collar shows the dates of all three of India’s World Cup wins in 1983, 2007 and 2011.
At the launch, skipper Virat Kohli said it is the best Nike jersey he has worn in ten years. The kit features three stars on the inside at the back, signifying India’s three World Cup titles. Along with the stars, the dates, scores, and coordinates of the venues of Team India’s World Cup triumphs have also been inscribed.
Talking about the jersey as per the quotes in Quint, Dhoni said, “This (three stars) always remind you of the great legacy that we have got. And it is not only this. Beyond that also we had bilateral series and playing cricket in a way we have reached number one ranking in each and every format. These are all motivational factor and whenever you look at that you get motivated to give that extra 10-15 percent.”
