Yes we are not joking, BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma on Wednesday said that those seeking proof of the Indian Army’s surgical strikes in PoK were like people who insist on “watching the video of their parents’ wedding night before accepting someone as father”.
Referring to the remarks by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam on the surgical strikes, the BJP legislator said, “Be it Kejriwal or Nirupam, whoever, irrespective of political affiliation, insults the Army or does not have faith in it and demands proof is like an individual who insists on watching the video of his parents’ suhaag raat before accepting someone as his father.’’
The Huzur MLA went on to say that those seeking proof from soldiers who shed their blood for the country were “traitors or Pakistani agents speaking the language of Nawaz Sharif”.
“When soldiers make the supreme sacrifice, why should they not get their due? Why should someone insult them,’’ he told The Indian Express when asked about his comments.
Rameshwar Sharma is not new to controversies. Just two years ago, he linked “love jihad” to garba and asked the Bhopal district administration to ask garba organisers to insist on identity cards and allow non-Hindu men only if they give an affidavit that they have faith in Hinduism and its gods.
That’s a new low in Politics.
