It’s Desi ! This women MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha wants government to form Turmeric Board

As everyone is aware, that Turmeric Powder is very useful for our health, as turmeric health benefits come mainly from its ingredient, curcumin. This widely researched component of turmeric is highly therapeutic and is used in various drugs and pharmaceutics mainly because of its immunity boosting and anti-oxidant properties.It

Keeping this in mind Kalvakuntla Kavitha is a Member of Parliament and Telangana Rashtra Samithi party member. representing Nizamabad Lok Sabha Constituency had met with the Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce and Industry (I/C) Smt Nirmala Sitharaman to request for taking steps for the implementation of the following 3 issues.

She urged the Hon’ble Minister to take steps to expedite the formation of a National Turmeric Board which has been a long pending demand of the turmeric farmers in India. It was an issue that K Kavitha had raised repeatedly at various forums like meeting with the Hon’ble Prime Minister twice and the Hon’ble Minister thrice in the last 3 years along with repeatedly raising the issue in the Question Hour as well as introducing a Private Member Bill on 24th March 2017.

Secondly, SmtKavitha intimated to the Hon’ble Minister that the Telangana State Government had sanctioned 30 crores and had acquired 42 acres of land for the setting up of a Turmeric Spice Park at Balkonda, Nizamabad. The Spices Board under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (GoI) has been entrusted with preparing the DPR for the same and the same is currently under process.MsKavitha invited the Hon’ble Minister to visit the Park and requested the proactive support of the Central Government to request spice exporters to invest in the park, so that turmeric farmers can get a higher remunerative price.

Thirdly, SmtKavitha requested for a categorical ban on the imports of turmeric in India which has been increasing at an alarming rate in the last 5 years. She also pointed out to the Hon’ble Minister that unless and until the import of cheaper turmeric varieties into the country is banned the turmeric farmers in India will suffer badly in the days to come.
