Home Minister told me ‘I Can’t Change Everyone’s Character’ When I Urged Him To Stop Crime Against Women Says Alka Lamba

Earlier today (as the time of this writing) As many as six women AAP MLAs of Delhi protested outside Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s residence against the deteriorating law and order situation and the increasing crimes against women in the National Capital. AAP protestors wanted to meet the Home Minister, whose office had not confirmed any appointment. They were thus stopped and detained by the Delhi Police at Akbar road. After the intervene of Home Minister Rajnath Singh, AAP MLA’s finally got a chance to meet Rajnath Singh and the 30 minutes meeting revealed some big secrets about the government, Alka Lamba’s biggest revelation is that Home Minister Rajnath Singh had no idea about the Home Ministry decision to disband Women Safety Special task force.

Alka Lamba also tweet that – When she requests Rajnath Singh to do something about the increasing crime rate against women, the Home Minister told her that he has no power to change any person character it takes time. Alka Lamba also talked about Okhla AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan’s video footage in which the SHO of Jamia Nagar police station asked the complainant to add allegations of threats on raping and killing her in the FIR on complaint against Okhla MLA to which Rajnath Singh simply replied – ‘I didn’t watch any video recently. This does raises few questions, first if AAP really wanted to meet the home minister than why all the protest drama? They could’ve easily waited for the confirmation from the officials about the meeting. But it couldn’t get those media coverage they seek here and there, right!

The AAP has been attacking the Centre after the death of a 14-year-old dalit rape victim. The party said that while the Centre was prompt in making use of the Delhi police to arrest legislators, it does not show the same enthusiasm in dealing with the issue of women’s safety. AAP youth wing president Ankush Narang said women’s security is an issue that the party will never be silent about. Meanwhile, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was providing security to his “friends” like Nita Ambani, leaving women in the national capital in a lurch. Mr Kejriwal’s latest swipe against Mr Modi came in a tweet after the Union home ministry decided to accord Y-category security cover to Ms Ambani, the wife of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani. “Women raped daily in Delhi. No security for them despite repeated requests. But PM providing security to his friends,” Mr Kejriwal said on Twitter.
