Being a celebrity in India comes with both pros and cons. Bollywood has always given birth to both good and bad actors and actresses but sometimes unfortunate incidents have either knowingly or unknowingly put the celebrities behind the bars for the wrong they may have done.
However these celebrities come into the limelight because they are famous and people are much interested in knowing the why and how they being put behind the prison.
So here is a list of B-town celebrities that have gone behind bars-
- Sanjay Dutt
Sanjay Dutt also known as Sanju Baba was held guilty for his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai Bombings and was originally sentenced to 6 years in Jail. In 2013, The Supreme Court reduced his sentence to 5 years. He was let out in February 2016, eight months yearly on accounts of his good conduct while in Pune’s Yerwada prison.
2. Rhea Chakraborty
Rhea Chakraborty has recently been arrested on drug-related charges in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. She was arrested on September 9 after being accused of procuring drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput. The case is still being investigated by the CBI.
3. Salman Khan
Salman Khan went to jail on several occasions concerning the hut and run and the blackbuck poaching cases. A court in Jodhpur had convicted and sentenced Salman to a 5-year jail in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The case is still in the Jodhpur court.
4. Monica Bedi
Monica Bedi was in love with one of the most wanted terrorists in the world, Abu Salem. She forged her travel documents due to which she was in jail for two years in Portugal. After coming out of jail, she restarted her acting career whereas her ex-boyfriend continues to be in jail.
5. Shahrukh Khan
Shahrukh Khan in an interview with David Letterman confessed that he went to jail once for threatening a journalist. The actor also remembered how during his initial days in Mumbai when he was shooting for Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na, he landed in trouble for threatening a journalist over an article.
6. Sonali Bendre
The famous actress ‘Sonali Bendre’ arrived in prison for a dress which wore in a magazine. She wore a yellow dress and the words imprinted on it were ‘OM’ and ‘OM NAMAH SHIVAY’.This caused a tremendous issue in her life, which made her property in the prison, and was fined Rs 12000.
