A customer named Amit Shukla cancelled his order from Zomato, stating that he will not receive his order from a Muslim delivery boy. Zomato has charged a cancellation fee to him.
Mr Deepinder Goyal founder of Zomato has personally replied to this customer stating “we are proud of the idea of India and the diversity of the esteemed customers and partners. We are sorry to lose any business that comes in the way of our values”.
After his tweet to zomato, they replied that “food does not have a religion it is a religion”. Zomato’s reply has impressed everyone on the internet. antipathy towards Muslims has increased, many companies like ola, uber also receive such tweets of hatred towards Muslim drivers. Zomato’s reply has set an example against such racist who contradicts the idea of secular India and is a threat against the constitutional right to “ freedom of religion”.
