Delhi Police has seized 16 quintal ganja, 4 quintal poppy husk, and 190kg Smack and heroin in 2019

Post after claiming the title of rape capital now Delhi has become drug capital as well. Delhi Police has released an official stat of drug seizing in 2019 till May month across Delhi. IPS officer Madhur Verma revealed the stat of drug seizing in Delhi via tweet. He wrote “This year @DelhiPolice has seized more than 16 quintal ganja, 4 quintal poppy husk and more than 190 Kg Smack and heroin. We have arrested 383 persons for supplying, peddling and consuming drugs!”
In a recent survey conducted by Delhi Aid Society in association with Delhi government during 2018 among the street children’s. It was found that more than 70,000 children’s are in the effect of consumption of drugs in different modes. Through the survey, it was promulgated that during the past three years, the demand for heroin and cocaine has increased in an enormous amount. Among heroin and cocaine, the heroine is more accessible and cheaper as well compared to Cocaine. One gram of heroin costs up to 300-400 whereas cocaine is fifteen to twenty times costlier than heroin. Among college going students, the heroine is very popular and is being consumed in a very huge amount.
Different drug seizing actions taken by Delhi Police in last few Years:
- On 30th December 2017, Narcotics Control Bureau arrested students of top colleges with 1 kg of charas.
- On 22nd May 2018, four men carrying drugs worth Rs. 3 Crore was arrested in Delhi.
- June 1st, 2018 marked the death of 3 Nigerians who died due to a drug overdose.
- On Aug 14, 2018, three men were arrested in Delhi for supplying drugs. They were carrying 3 kg of heroin and 1 kg alprazolam.
