Air India flight from Dubai crashes at the Karipur airport, 17 people dead: Know More

An Air India Express Plane AXB- 1344 boarded from Dubai to Calicut skidded at Kariput Airport while landing at the runway on Friday, August 7 as per Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Approximately 16 people died during the crash including two pilots and 13 other passengers have confirmed to have died. The flight was reportedly carrying 190 people including two pilots, 10 infants, and cabin crew on-board. The aircraft were broken into two halves after this crash.

“Death toll in the Air India Express flight crash landing incident at Kozhikode rises to 17.” The DGCA said in a statement to ANI.

Union Chief Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri expressed agony in his tweet about the plane tragedy:

“Deeply anguished and distressed at the air accident in Kozhikode. Air India Express flight number AXB- 1344 from Dubai to Kozhikode, overshot the runway in rainy conditions and went down 35 feet into a slope before breaking up into two pieces.“ he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan enlightened that the rescue team has completed their operation by rescuing the passengers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured Pinarayi Vijayan some assistance while talking to him about the plane crash.
