Mumbai: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has started investigating the drugs angle in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. It was revealed that the late actor’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty are linked with this angle.

According to NCB, Showik Chakraborty was contacting this arrested drug dealer named Zaid Vilatra.

The officials have also recovered Vilatra’s foreign currency notes (USD 2,081, 180 British Pound and 15 dirhams) and a whopping amount of Rs 9,55,750, which are reportedly called “proceeds of drug peddling”.

“Vilatra disclosed that he runs an eatery in Bandra, which was not giving any pecuniary gains since the lockdown. He also disclosed that he peddles drugs, especially bud (curated marijuana), through which he used to earn a substantial amount of money’” NCB told PTI.

The sources said that Vilatra has supplied cannabis to Showik Chakraborty and Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda, who were met through a middleman called Abdel Basit Parihar, 23.

NCB team is currently grilling Parihar in Mumbai and is expected to be arrested by today, a top official in the agency said.

According to NCB officials, Rhea Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda are expected to be interrogated by the Narcotics Control Bureau next as the investigation team has found the chats between Parihar and Chakraborty regarding the purchase and use of cannabis.

“Parihar was picked up based on information by Vilatra. Abbas Lakhani, who was arrested last week along with Karan Arora for allegedly trafficking drugs, led the probe team to Vilatra,” the NCB official said.

NCB has been investigating the drug angle in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case since Enforcement Directorate (ED) found the chats between Rhea Chakraborty and a Goa- based hotelier Gaurav Arya about the supply of cannabis and other banned narcotic substances on August 26.
