General secretary of AIADMK VK Sasikala suffered a major jolt today with the SC upholding the trial court’s judgment convicting her in the 21-year-old disproportionate assets case against her. Now, Sasikala stands disqualified to became TamilNadu CM.

The Karnataka government had challenged May 11, 2015, state HC verdict acquitting former late Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa, Sasikala, VN Sudhakaran and Elavarasi – for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 66.65 crore during her first term as Chief Minister from 1991 to 1996.

Supreme Court in its 2000-page verdict has directed Sasikala to surrender immediately.
