Rajyasabha MP Surender Nagar resigned from Samajwadi Party, likely to join BJP

In what may be termed as a major jolt to the Samajwadi Party in the western region of the state, Surendra Nagar deputy leader of the SP rajya sabha resigned from Samajwadi Party and is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Nagar is a former Lok Sabha MP from Noida (Gautam Buddh Nagar). He holds strong support in Noida and Ghaziabad. Sources close to Nagar informed NLC that Nagar was feeling suffocated in Samajwadi Party.

Nagar comes from a well-known business family who owns PARAS group. A source informed NLC Nagar to be given a heavy portfolio in the government. His resignation has been accepted by Rajya Sabha chairmen Vainkaiya Naidu.
