Petitioner fined Rs 5 lakh against plea for Namaz at Ayodhya disputed site

PETITIONER FINED RS 5 LAKH AGAINST PLEA FOR NAMAZ AT AYODHYA DISPUTED SITE

On Thursday, the Allahabad High Court imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on a petitioner who asked for the permission to offer ‘namaz’ at the disputed site in Ayodhya. The court named the appeal as “cheap publicity”.

Justices DK Arora and Alok Mathur of the Lucknow bench of the high court passed the order given by the petitioner Al-Rahman Trust as an attempt to gain “cheap publicity”. The court has ordered the District Magistrate Faizabad to realize the fine amount if it is not deposited by the Trust.
