Is it UP or Taliban? 70 girls stripped naked by warden to check for menstrual blood

During the election phase in Uttar Pradesh, BJP targeted SP over deteriorating law and order and women atrocities in the state. BJP picked up the matter and promised that they will make the state safer for women, and can go on roads alone even late at night. Soon after coming to the power, CM Yogi Adityanath did the first thing to form the Anti-Romeo Squad. The squad would take care of the ‘Romeos’ harassing the girls in public places.

In a horrific incident at Muzzafarnagar, hostel girls were stripped naked by a female warden just to check for menstrual blood. The student alleges that they all were stripped just to check for the menstrual blood.

The incident took place on Sunday when there were no other teachers in the Kasturba Gandhi Girls Residential School.

According to students, they were ordered by a female warden to assemble and stripped naked following the incident of blood strains found in the bathroom. The students also said that they were threatened by the warden if they fail to obey her.

The horrific incident has triggered protests by the girls’ families.  “It was very humiliating for all of us. We want action against her,” said one of the students.

The warden has been suspended.

She, however, denied the incident. “Nothing of the sort happened. Some blood was found on the floor and wall of the bathroom. I wanted to check if everything was all right with the girls. Such young girls are sometimes unable to express… I just asked them if anything was wrong,” she said.

This is not the first incident happened inside the college premises. In 2013, the principal of a private residential English-medium school in Odisha was arrested for making lewd gestures and molesting at least four of the 11 girl students who lived in the hostel.
