No Fear No Favour

How A Tweet By Smriti Irani Gathered Support From Virender Sehwag, Hema Malini And The Likes.

Not everyone enjoys summer in India, that hot water bath of the early morning makes everyone say those three words, “wtf”. And, oh! How can we forget those body sweats just after taking the bath, and those body odours? Not everything is good about summers, and not everyone really loves it.

But there’s surely one person who is still having a chill in the midst of the rising mercury level, our Textile Minister, Mrs Smriti Zubin Irani.

Mrs Irani, on Tuesday, tweeted #CottonIsCool and posted a picture of her in a multicoloured cotton saree. With that picture, she tweeted how she is “celebrating Indian summers” with her cotton look. Tagging five of her colleagues, she invited others to share what their cotton look is.

Since then, the tweet went wildfire with over 1000 retweets and 4700 likes.  Not only does the common the supported Mrs Irani’s effort, bigwigs from the country, like actor-turned-politicians Hema Malini, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. Even former cricketer Virender Sehwag, boxer Vijender Singh and author Amish Tripathi joined the bandwagon that was started by the Textile Minister.
