Happy Birthday Shabana! Know about the remarkable life of Shabana Azmi

Shabana Azmi a Proficient actress has turned 69 years old today, born on 18 September 1950. Shabana is a big name in the Bollywood industry as a prominent actress and also a social activist supporting child survival and fighting for AIDS and injustice in real life. Azmi has voiced her opinion on a variety of issues. Initially, her activism drew scepticism and was dubbed by some as a publicity gimmick. However, she proved her critics wrong and used her celebrity status to emerge as a high-profile social activist.    

She was honoured for the film ‘Ankur’ in 1975 for the first time, then ‘Arth’ in 1983, ‘Khandhar’ in 1984, ‘Paar’ in 1985 and ‘Godmother’ in1999. She made her identity in commercial films like ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ in 1977, ‘Parvarish’ in 1977, ‘Main Azaad Hoon’ in 1989.

The actress faced opposition from her family because of her relation with Javed Akhtar. His family members were not ready as Javed was already married to Honey Irani and has two children Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar.

Javed used to learn the art of writing from Shabana Azmi’s father Kaifi Azmi in 1970. That’s how Shabana and Javed became close to each other during these days. Their closeness created a rift between Honey and Javed.

Javed did not want to leave Honey but their fights were at a peak. Later, Honey allowed Javed to go to Shabana. While Javed was ready for marriage, Shabana’s father was angry with her decision, as he was in fell that due to Shabana, Javed and Honey’s relation was ruined and he did not want Shabana to marry a married man, but later on, Shabana convinced her father.
