From making one ad film to making more than 130 soap operas, 40 T.V. series and no. of films, Ekta Kapoor makes her journey worthy of appreciation. Her birth transformed the T.V. industry, completely through the step of making “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhie Bahu Thi”.
She was born on June 7, 1975, in Mumbai, Maharashtra is of 44 years of age. She did her schooling at Bombay Scottish School, Mahim and attended college at Mithibai College. She is the daughter of Jeetendra Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. Ekta is deeply attached to her mother, and her mother is also her business partner. Ekta has achieved great heights in filmmaking and production, but in reality, our queen of daily soaps is afraid of heights. It is ironical that she has made movies like, Krishna Cottage and Ragini MMS, which are associated with the themes of ‘horror’ and ‘darkness’, but in reality, she has a fear of darkness.
Ekta is a passionate dog lover, as she has adopted and taken care of many street dogs near her office. Ekta has a son, which she brought into existence via surrogacy, to adore her space of a single mother. She has made her close friend Mona Singh(Television actress), her babysitter. She has a strong belief in numerology, astrology, and spirituality. She has named her boy”Ravie”,(extra ‘e’, is due to the concept of numerology). Her K-Series will be the perfect example of signifying her belief in numerology. The respective serials are ‘Kasautii Zindagii Ki’, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, ‘Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki’, ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, ‘Karam Apna Apna’ and ‘Kasam Se’ etc.

She then went on to co-produce “Shootout at Lokhandwala” with Sanjay Gupta. “Mission Istanbul” and EMI – Liya Hai Toh Chukana Padhega” in collaboration with Sunil Shetty followed. In 2010 to 2014 she released a number of films including “Love Sex Aur Dhokha“, “Once Upon a Time in Mumbai”, and “Shor in the City”. She says at one point she had lost confidence in herself after her films flopped one after another, and so was initially not sure about producing Half Girlfriend. In 2012, Ekta Kapoor started Institute of Creative Excellence, a media training school via her production house Balaji Telefilms. Recently, sources have revealed that she is working on her film’XXX’, In which women will be shown as making love to the chocolate bar, which signifies her unconventional and unique mindset for the story idea formation.
