Former women captain Mithali Raj declared retirement from T20 format.

Combative player of Indian women cricket team Mithali Raj declared her retirement from T20 format. She lead the introduction of women Indian cricket team into the T20 matches in 2006. She stated that I want to focus on my performance for the 2021 world cup this is the only reason I want to take a break from other formats of cricket.

Mithali has scored 2364 runs in 88 T20 matches with an average of 37.52 including 17 half-centuries. She is the first Indian and sixth worldwide player to score more than 2000+ runs in women T20 cricket.

“After representing India in T20 internationals since 2006, I wish to retire from T20Is to focus my energies on readying myself for the 2021 One Day World Cup. It remains my dream to win a World Cup for my country and I want to give it my best. I thank the BCCI for their continuous support and wish the Indian T20 team good luck as they prepare for the home series against South Africa Women,” said Mithali.
