“Commitment Level: A+,”says Commissioner of Mumbai Police as a Police Constable donates blood amid cyclone Nisarga

Earlier on Wednesday, a police constable donated blood in Maharashtra on the arrival day of cyclone Nisarga, for the operation of a 14 year old girl who was in urgent need of blood for her open heart surgery.

Due to the cyclonic storm, it was difficult for her family and friends to make it to the hospital and several other hospitals are already facing shortage of blood due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Thus, the Police Constable, Aakash Gaikwad donated blood for the surgery of the girl.

Constable, Aakash, 27 was on duty at Tardeo when he got to know from a friend about the emergency and immediately rushed to the hospital to offer help. “I belong to A+ blood group which is rare and donated two units of blood,” said Gaikwad.

Shri Param Bir Singh, Commissioner of Police, Mumbai took to Twitter to praise Aakash Gaikwad and wrote, “Committment Level: A+ . A 14-year old needed blood group A+ to undergo an open heart surgery. When friends or family could not make it to the hospital due to #CycloneNisarga, PC Aakash Gaikwad donated blood. @MumbaiPolice wishes the young girl a healthy life ahead,”
