Today, on Monday the bench of three judge In-house committee consisting of SA Bobde, Indra Banergee and Indu Malhotra gave clean chit to CJI Ranjan Gogoi accused of sexually harassing junior court practitioner assigned to work at his residence office. The In-house committee has found no substance against CJP Ranjan Gogoi in the complaint filed dated 19/04/2019. Hence, Supreme court declared Ranjan Gogoi innocent.
However as per the SCC494 of Indira Jaising vs Supreme court of India, the report of the committee constituted as a part of In-house procedure is not liable to make public, Supreme Court General Secretory said in a report.
CJI Ranjan Gogoi was charged of sexually harassing a junior court assistant in the month of October. The 35-year women was working at the residence of Ranjan Gogoi as junior assistant. Right after filing a case against Gogoi, she was was terminated from her post. Her Husband and brother in law has been suspended from the post of Head Constable at Delhi. Her another brother-in-law who was assigned junior court attendant post on Gogoi’s recommendation is also being terminated from his post.
