BJP’s Resolution Of Gau Raksha Reaches A New Height. Have To Pay ‘Cow Cess’ If You Rent A House In Rajasthan.

BJP government has always been finding new innovative ideas for cow protection and their dedication is seen in their will to bring cow protection legislature in Gujarat.

Nowadays Rajasthan is being in news for the killing of Muslim men accused of cow slaughter. Those men were beaten up by the mob in the middle of the road mercilessly even though they produced papers that they bought those cattle for dairy farming.

But the dedication for the protection of cow in Rajasthan state government has been taken to another level. Rajasthan government has imposed a 10% cess as the surcharge on stamp duty for protection and propagation of cow protection in the state.

This surcharge will be applicable on all non–judicial instruments like rent – agreement, mortgage deed or lease deeds. But judicial instruments, insurance stamps or revenue tickets are excluded from it.

The Rajasthan government has released the order for the imposing of cow cess from 31^st March.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by the Rajasthan Stamp Act, 1998 and in supersession of this department’s notification, state government hereby orders surcharge at the rate of 10 per cent on stamp duty payable on all instruments for the purposes of conservation and propagation of cow and its progeny,” states the order.

Not even this the Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje has said in her budget that the surcharge that was proposed will be used for the protection and well – being of cows.

Ironically, Rajasthan is the only state which has its own Cow ministry. The government last year had said that it need at least 200 to 500 crores for the welfare and protection of cows.

11% of the total share of the entire registration revenue is allotted to the Rajasthan cow ministry.

Following them, other states BJP led government have come forward for the imposition of such surcharge. Punjab government has also given a nod for such cess in some cities.

The Haryana Gau Sewa Ayog had proposed to the government that it should levy a Rs 2,100 tax on booking of a banquet hall, a 5 per cent cess on the collection of entertainment tax, and Re 1 per bag of food grain. It also sought that 50 per cent collections of donations from state-managed temples for the creation of funds for the upkeep of cows in the state.
