BJP leader Lalji Tandon took his last breath at Medanta Hospital, Lucknow.

The governor of Madhya Pradesh Lalji Tandon passed away at the age of 85 on Tuesday which was confirmed by his son Ashutosh Tandon.

A tweet came in the morning where his son announced that Lalji Tandon has passed away on Tuesday. He tweeted by saying “babuji nahi rahe(my father is no more)”.

Tandon’s health conditions were worsening over past few days and he was also undergoing a treatment at Medanta hospital in Lucknow since June 11. The doctors said that his lungs have been deteriorated and his kidneys and liver were not working properly.

However , hospital said on Monday on a bulletin that Tandon is “now stable and still on critical care ventilator”, further adding that he had problems in urination and had fever.

“The condition of governor of Madhya Pradesh, Lalji Tandon is stable. He is still on critical care ventilator support through the tracheostomy team of medical experts at the hospital”, quoted Dr. Rakesh Kapoor of Medanta hospital in Lucknow as saying by a news agency ANI.

According to the health bulletin, Tandon had “developed internal abdominal bleeding for which an emergency operation was performed. The operation was successfully and he was shifted to ICU under strict surveillance of medical experts”.

The hospital also told that Tandon’s covid-19 report came out to be negative when he was admitted to the hospital.

Meanwhile, PM Modi also expressed his grief over his death. He tweeted that, “Shri Lalji Tandon will be remembered for his untiring efforts to serve society. He played a key role in strengthening BJP in Uttar Pradesh. He made a mark as an effective administrator, always giving importance to public welfare. Anguished by his passing away”.

Chief minister of Uttar Pradesh also expressed his grief by saying, “grieved to hear the new  of demise of Madhya Pradesh’s governor Lalji Tandon. With his death the country has lost a qualified administrator and a effect social worker. I pray to god for peace of his departed soul. My condolences to his bereaved family”.

During this, Rashtrapati Bhavan announced earlier that Uttar Pradesh’s governor will take additional charge of Madhya Pradesh during his illness. “the president of india is pleased to appoint Annandibdn Patel , governor of Uttar Pradesh to discharge the functions of governor of Madhya Pradesh , in addition to hear her own duties during the absence of leave of Lalji Tandon”, says  Rashtrapati bhavan in a statement.

Earlier, Tandon was also praised for his academic activities in the state University of Bihar. He was also a member of Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Parishad and has served as a urban development minister under Mayavati and Kalyan Singh’s government.
