In a bizarre incident in Southwest Delhi’s Uttam Nagar, a 28-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death following a heated argument on who would cook the dinner. Confirming that the 30-year-old Nigerian victim named Eezu died with multiple stab wounds, the police arrested the accused named Elvi Ujumma and booked her with murder charges.
According to the police, Eezu came to Ujumma’s place with an invitation from her and the two soon got engaged in a heated argument. Though they calmed down after the neighbours intervened, but the argument turned even ugly after they left. Accepting that the argument started over who would cook dinner, Ujumma claimed that her boyfriend hit her first and she got a knife just to scare him away. But after Eezu again tried to attack her, Ujumma stabbed her repeatedly and then locked herself in a room for half an hour. As reported by the Times of India, a police official quoted Ujumma saying, “I got scared on seeing him bleeding badly and called my friends. Together, we took him to hospital. Doctors, however, declared him dead on arrival.”
The police had further stated that Ujumma returned home to lock herself in a room once again after the doctors declared her boyfriend dead at the hospital and the police had to break open the door to arrest her.
However, neighbours and care taker of the house had claimed that the Eezu and Ujumma had never had such arguments before. One of their neighbour, Prabhjot, was quoted by the Times of India, saying, “The man often came to the house, but I had never heard them fighting like this. After some time, I saw the woman and her friends hailing an autorickshaw and taking the man to hospital. He was bleeding badly.”
