Eight terrorists were killed in Shopian and Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir in 2 encounters happened within the last 24 hours. In the Pampore operation, 2 terrorists were hiding inside the mosque. Police said, “There was no use of firing, and only tear smoke shell was used to maintain the sanctity of the mosque.”
Security forces launched an anti-terror operation in the areas of Shopian and Pampore after receiving information about the presence of terrorists. 5 were killed in Shopian and 3 in Pampore.
The official said that one terrorist was killed during a gunfight in Pulwama district but the rest two entered a mosque to take refuge inside it.
In the morning, security forces used tear smoke shells to force terrorists out of the mosque to maintain the sanctity of a religious place.
Inspector-General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar commanded that no firing was to be initiated to get the terrorists out of the mosque. He said, “Police and professionalism worked. No use of firing and IED. Used tear smoke shell only. Maintained sanctity of the mosque. Both terrorists hiding inside mosque neutralized.”
Looking at the Operation in Shopian, 5 terrorists were killed in the Munand area today. As of now police haven’t disclosed the identity and weapons so found.
More than a dozen terrorists have been killed in just two weeks. It was said that these terrorists were the locals.
