Ajinkya Rahane’s father arrested in Kohlapur after car crash a woman

Ajinkya Rahane’s father Madhukar Baburao Rahane has been arrested, after his car was involved in an accident.

India cricketer Ajinkya Rahane’s father Madhukar Baburao Rahane has been arrested on Friday morning, Indian Express has learnt, for running down a 67-year-old woman in Kolhapur. The incident involved Madhukar’s car. The woman was taken to the government hospital where she was declared dead after succumbing to injuries, reports in the local media have further said.

The Kolhapur Police has reportedly registered a case under the IPC Act 304A, 337, 338, 279 and 184.

Rahane is presently with the rest of the Indian cricket team which is involved in a 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
The last match of the series will be played on Sunday in Visakhapatnam.

Rahane himself has been going through a patchy phase, struggling to score runs in the recently concluded home season.

Driving in a Hyundai i20 on National Highway No 4, Madhukar lost control of the vehicle in the Kagal area and accidentally hit a woman named Ashatai Kamble. The impact with the vehicle was such that despite being taken to the nearby hospital, she died.

Former captain Sourav Ganguly has backed the Mumbai batsman, saying he deserves a place in the line-up.

“It is imperative Rahane plays at No.3. In fact, to my mind, both Rahane and KL Rahul (not in the squad) should be playing more and more ODIs. When Virat comes back at No.3, there will still be slots at Nos.4 and 5 (with Dhoni at No.6) and if you are looking at the World Cup 2019, I would want the selectors and team management to back Rahane and Rahul. They have proved themselves in the past and I think they will make the middle-order more productive.” Ganguly.

So, bad time continues for the vice-captain with one more bad news of the same. If you have anything to share then do let us know in the below comment section.
